How do I fix the hole in my heart?
Some days hurt more than others.
Sometimes I even forget, for a moment…
And then, like a natural disaster, my world falls apart.
A sound, a smell, a song, a memory and I’m missing you.
Reality hits. Every piece of my puzzle is rocked to its core.
I’m just now a human shell,
Cold and empty
(an old poem I wrote years ago)
Old but gold! You described a familiar feeling very well! I guess we end up being cold and empty just to protect ourselves, I don’t know how good is that, but this is the reason…
very beautiful and deep!

It’s amazing what sights, sounds and smells can recall in our hearts. Memories are powerful and can bring us right back to the moment that we experienced them.

Exactly Rob! There’s always something there to remind us. Memories are like names carved into a tree trunk; the scar will always be there

I actually not aware of that because I only heard them on FM radio. We had no TV when I was growing up and I was far from civilization. I only learn about their story during their return because of a BBC documentary.
